This position is for a Grade 1 Assistant in our Business Services Team – joining us as a school leaver, or with relevant or transferrable work experience, to study AAT.
AAT is a technician level accountancy qualification which we regard as being the equivalent of a university degree and which many of the Dafferns team have gained before progressing to the full professional ACCA / ICAEW exams.

Job description
A Business Services Assistant works as part of the business services team, assisting semi-seniors, seniors and managers on assignment to include preparation of statutory accounts for small sized UK companies, bookkeeping and processing predominately on Xero and preparation of VAT returns.

- Maintain client confidentiality outside the office
Qualifications and skills
- Good A levels or equivalent
- Keen interest in business and accounting with a willingness to learn
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to organise and manage time efficiently and effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when necessary
- Self-motivated to study
- Take responsibility for work tasks and quality, managing own workload and deadlines under supervision
- Show enthusiasm and commitment to undertaking tasks as required and in seeing tasks through to completion
- Maintain high professional standards of conduct and practice
- Effective use of IT including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and accounts packages
