Friday 13 November 2020 brought the shock news that two of Boris Johnson’s top advisers had left with immediate effect.
Dominic Cummings and Lee Cain, neither of whom were elected representatives, held considerable influence over Government policy. Both men were among the key architects of the 2016 Vote Leave campaign, Johnson’s rise to Party Leader in 2019 and the Get Brexit Done message at the core of the December 2019 General Election victory.
Cain left discreetly by the back door of Number 10, Cummings however opted for the highly iconic cardboard box out the front door.
What this means for the UK’s Brexit Trade Deal negotiations is open to speculation. Without the influence of Cain and Cummings, are we now more likely to agree to some form of deal, at least covering some of the key basics – security for example?

The deadline for a UK / EU trade deal is 31 December 2020. The reality is the UK need a deal more than the EU. Something had to change and on Friday 13th it did….. Time will tell what this means for No Deal.
