Emily Ball-Goldfinch wins prestigious award

Emily, a Senior Manager in our audit team, has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to the ICAEW with a prestigious Volunteer Recognition Award.

The award was presented by ICAEW President Malcolm Bacchus at Chartered Accountants’ Hall in London during the recent ICAEW UK Regions’ Spring Forum.

This recognition acknowledges Emily’s dedication and hard work in her involvement to date, which spans 8 years as well as her role as Chair of the ICAEW East Midlands Local Network Board since Spring/ Summer 2023.

Emily in her role as Deputy Chair played a pivotal role, with colleagues, in the governance changes – where they successfully managed the transition from a District Society to a Local Network Board.

Immediately on stepping up, into her role as Chair and of the Network board being active, Emily had to get to grips with operating as part of the newly formed board. Shortly into that time, the board made the decision, overseen by Emily and key representatives from the ICAEW Regions team, to merge the previous Leicestershire / Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire / Lincolnshire / Derbyshire networks into the unified East Midlands region.

“I originally got involved several years ago, having attended an event hosted by Hilary Lindsay, ICAEW president at the time, for newly qualified accountants in the area. She gave an inspiring talk about her vision for the future of the profession, including her passion for championing women.

We were consequently invited to attend the next District Society board meeting. I went along mostly out of curiosity; I found the board were all so welcoming and supportive, and it seemed like a great opportunity to get involved early on in my career, which quickly turned into becoming the board’s Early Careers’ Representative and fast forward to now being Chair.

It is a privilege volunteering for the ICAEW, and this award means a great deal to me, both personally and professionally.”

Since joining Dafferns three years ago, Emily has demonstrated exceptional leadership both within the firm and in her voluntary capacity. As an accredited Mindshop Advisor and active ICAEW volunteer, she continues to make valuable contributions to the accounting profession. It is inspiring to watch her devote time and effort to more than just the day job!

The whole team at Dafferns are proud of and congratulate Emily on her award. It is incredibly well-deserved recognition for her commitment both to the profession and future development of our own talent here at Dafferns.
